The Financial Analyst is a member of the Finance team who will support individual businesses and the Procurement team with data analysis and reporting around various spend categories. The Financial Analyst interfaces extensively with BGI’s regional offices, other Barclays clusters and corporate operating groups, which include Travel, Global Technology, Marketing, Advertising, Funds, Global Operations, Human Resources, Finance, Facilities and Legal.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintain Global Category spend database
Responsible for mining the spend data base and the general ledger to produce information on spend categories and trends that provide insight to business managers and procurement category experts on where spend is occurring and how it is being directed
Help drive better transparency by developing reports and analysis to meet the needs of businesses and senior management
Develop and maintain reports that communicate Business/Procurement savings efforts across the organization
Develop specific category reports, such as for Travel, which highlight global trends in spending
Responsible for understanding and maintaining global spend and governance policies and their impact on the organization
Work closely with Travel and provide data analysis support in annual vendor negotiations
Support procurement transformation process as necessary
Support the Procurement team with individual category initiatives
Manage the tracking of market trends and best practices (cost drivers, levers, competitive situations)
Assist with finance projects and ad-hoc analytics requests
Qualifications:
Experience supporting corporate operating groups and providing cross functional data analysis
Requires thought leadership, strategic thinking skills, driving results and excellent project management skills
Ability to apply financial analytics to solving business problems.
Strong communication skills - must have the ability to develop and present clear and concise analysis with recommendations.
Ability to work effectively at all levels of an organization – with peers, managers, and senior executives.
Able to work independently as a hands-on individual contributor, and extract information creatively from a variety of sources.
