This role will involve you becoming an integral part of a team of Unix systems support specialists who plan, deploy, configure and maintain enterprise class, mission critical midrange computing solutions for a global banking business. In order to perform in this role, you will need to draw on skills gained in the following areas: - Experience in deploying and configuring mission critical midrange systems (Unix: AIX, Solaris and Linux) and support operational management - Enterprise backup operations. - Clustering technology support. - Enterprise storage and media management. - Systems architecture design. - Entry Level Technical project management. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years experience of UNIX SA experience on either Solaris, Linux or AIX platforms. In addition, candidates must have a sound background in SAN management, excellent knowledge around High-Availability technologies - VCS / HACMP and experience of working within Investment Banking environments. Your main responsibilities will include: - Providing best practice support services for the systems under Enterprise Support Services (ESS) management responsibility. - Maintain, tune and patch systems for optimum performance and security. - Ensure changes are planned and implemented in a sound low risk manner, without creating system outages. - Assist Service Management and Application teams in solving intermittent recurring problems. - Provide solutions architecture advice. - Provide Technical Project Management / Technical Lead skills to projects. - Ensure that technical solutions implemented satisfy both the immediate and long-term needs of the business, and ensure adherence with the teams technical and security standards. This role will pay an excellent basic salary and provide the opportunity to move into a team lead position in the near future if candidates perform well.
