Description: Moody's Risk Management initiative was launched in December 2003, with the objectives of: 1) informing the rating process by assessing the rigor of a firm's risk management approach, its appropriateness to the firm's business, and its impact on business decisions and future financial health; 2) supporting fundamental analysts on specific risk and derivatives issues; 3) providing fixed income investors with relevant and value-adding risk discussions. Since its inception, the team has delivered comprehensive risk management methodologies, provided specific Risk Management Assessments (RMAs) for selected issuers and has contributed to broader rating methodologies. It has also published several Special Comments and has contributed articles in specialist journals. Contributes to Moody's Risk Management Assessment initiative, covering all aspects of risk, with particular focus on financial institutions and corporates with significant economic exposure to financial, commodity or energy risk. Key Responsibilities - Provides risk management technical support to analysts - Be the designated risk management specialist for the Operational Quality (OQ) and debt ratings of hedge funds - Writes risk management assessments research reports on industries and specific issuers - Participates to rating committees on key credits as necessary - Performs statistical or quantitative analyses based on market or firm specific data - Supports team leader's work in the design and testing of new initiative and new products - Provides internal training to Moody's analysts Qualifications: Qualifications -Post-graduate degree in economics/finance/statistics or a scientific field or MBA - FRM (Financial Risk Manager) Experience - Minimum 5 years experience in risk management within a large financial institution, or a risk consulting company. Additional previous experience in a front office role. - Extensive knowledge of market risk and detailed understanding of complex products. - Knowledge of credit portfolio models and economic capital. - Knowledge of operational risk, with specific application to hedge funds - Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proven ability to perform medium difficulty quantitative modeling.
