Responsibilities:
BlackRock Real Estate Debt Group seeks an associate level closer in its New York office. The group has invested over $6 billion in subordinated debt (second mortgages, B notes, mezzanine loans, and preferred equity) in North America, Europe and Asia. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the investment/lending process.
Negotiate acquisition documents on sub-debt purchases and loan documents on originations. Review loan documents and identify issues with loan structure. Interface with the group’s asset management team in addressing any post closing issues. Work with closing counsel to place loans onto credit, repo facilities and into CDOs. Prepare informational updates for the group’s investor websites. Assist senior management and accounting with corporate finance issues.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a legal background, a strong work ethic, and ability to manage several tasks in a variety of areas. Ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
JD degree with legal experience, preferably finance or real estate. Bar admission and law firm experience are preferred but not required. One to three years of experience in commercial real estate fields, especially real estate finance. Excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to comprehend financial transactions. Proficiency with Excel is preferred. Willingness to work on projects that are not legal in nature. International experience (especially Europe) is a plus. Skills See Job Description.
