Our client a dynamic investment bank seeks experienced operational risk managers to join the core operational risk management team.
The role of Operational Risk to facilitate the continued improvement in operational risk awareness and culture across the banking group, this is achieved through the continual refinement and implementation of the Operational Risk Management Framework. It is the coordinating and central force for operational risk across the Group and must have a confident grip on the risk profile of all our businesses. Divisional management take full responsibility for operational risk management within their business area. Reporting into their relevant divisional management, Business Operational Risk Manager’s are accountable along functional lines only to the Head of Operational Risk.
The purpose of role is; to oversee and monitor Group-wide Operational Risk Frameworks, policies and standards, identify emerging issues through the mechanisms of the Framework, investigate and analyse issues across all businesses and guide and assist the business through the application and interpretation of the framework.
The key responsibilities include
Ensure appropriate understanding and application of the Operational Risk Framework through reporting, education and advice to Business Operational Risk Managers and Business Management
Cultivate and maintain effective relationships and networks with the Business Operational Risk Managers and line managers ensuring rapid escalation of issues
Chair cross-Risk Management Group Operational Risk meetings
Profile and prioritise risks and breaches of the framework
Draft and assist with implementing solutions
Analysis and evaluation of incidents; monitor emerging issues and make recommendations for changes to the Operational Risk Framework
Review policy breaches to the extent that there are implications for the Operational Risk Framework
Liaise with external parties, when required to assist with understanding of the Operational Risk Framework
The key experience required includes; sound knowledge of complex operational risk frameworks and analysis from an investment banking environment. Interpreting and balancing of commercial issues faced by the business while working to the Operational Risk mandate. Relevant professional post graduate qualifications such as a CA or CPA would be desirable, as would operational risk, audit or possibly project management experience background from within a financial services or investment banking organisation.
