Department overview The product department supports the acquisition, retention and growth of profitable clients. Role Responsible for product development of the firm’s range of pooled funds including UK / Dublin / Lux OEICs/ICVCs, AUTs, LPs and hedge funds. Supported by a team of one. Responsibilities • Work closely with the distribution and investment management teams to identify and quantify product development opportunities • Advise business streams on all aspects of structuring pooled funds including location, legal and other regulatory issues • Project manage and co-ordinate the product development process from new ideas – through research, product design and preparation of business case • Preparation of product development forum papers • Project manage new product launches, liaising with all parties on the project, including the product sponsor, client services, operations legal, marketing, fund management, finance and third party administrators • Ensure business requirements are properly reflected in scheme documents/circulars • Manage projects in line with allocated budgets, to agreed schedules and in accordance with the firm’s project management processes • Interface with other departments as a source of technical product expertise • Manage restructuring of products including mergers, closures, new share classes and modifying characteristics e.g. pricing • Proactively address constantly evolving challenges and opportunities of product development e.g. legal, regulatory ,tax and industry developments • Responsible for a team of 1 including management, development and training. Person specification • Degree educated • IMC preferable • Detailed knowledge of UK/Dublin/Lux pooled products and their regulations • Product management/development experience • Understanding of the drivers and processes integral to successful product development and management • Commercial awareness • Understanding of investment markets, in depth knowledge of conventional investment funds and products and prepared to learn about more specialist products and structures • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to liaise with senior management, peers and other team members • Strong project management and organisational skills • Lateral-thinking with a creative mind and a proactive approach to opportunities • Prepared to work hard and will enjoy the challenges of a fast moving and changing environment • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
