Saybrook Capital is an investment firm that manages $1.5 billion in private equity, debt and fixed income investments for a cadre of domestic and off-shore blue-chip investors including Public Funds, Insurance Companies, Private Clients, Fund-of-Funds and Private Partnerships. Founded in 1990, the Firm is headquartered in Los Angeles. The Firm’s accounting team is responsible for providing all accounting functions, preparation of financial statements, partner allocations, assurance that fund operation is within the guidelines of the offering document, and for providing assistance and guidance on accounting standards and best practices. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant, Private Equity to be based in our Los Angeles, CA headquarters. Primary Responsibilities: - Account for the day to day activity of the partnership funds and other operating entities; cash and position reconciliations, bridge financing, related party transactions, capital activity, accruals, and partner allocation calculations/schedules.
- Daily cash reporting of all funds, general partners, and other operating entities.
- Responsible for private equity and hedge fund NAV reconciliations between the general ledger system, internal operations and external administrators.
- Maintain investment and capital account balances.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements on a monthly basis.
- Provide assistance in audit and tax requirements.
- Understanding of various investment products.
- Handling ad hoc requests as needed.
Requirements: - 3-5 years of accounting experience in the private equity and hedge fund industry.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting/financial principles.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Dynamics GP, MS Excel, FRx and Crystal Reports.
- Able to interpret and apply analysis to complex financial transactions.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, multifaceted environment.
- Ability to prioritize several tasks at one time and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience implementing new financial systems.
Appropriate business attire is required: business casual dress for the office, unless otherwise notified.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience Not eligible for relocation reimbursement. Usual workday: Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm and other times as needed.
